Environment: River tree speed painting

I'm trying to get back onto the environment train today. I think it took me about 20 minutes, but I'll pay closer attention to the next few.

this is something i fall back on a lot with enviros too, but these days i see a lot of concept artists pushing the background into an extremely low contrast, low saturated, bluish tone sort of look ( which is of course what actually happens due to atmospheric depth i know ), and it gets used so often and in such a heavy handed manner that every scene looks like it's a foggy morning. i'm personally trying to look at a lot of old master's works and trying to be a little more careful with how hard this gets used so as to control my weather and light breaking etc.

this is beautiful btw peter. i'm always in critique mode with the other ers guys that i can't help myself. the forums have spoiled me. awesome work indeed.
