And here's something I never do.

I've heard some people suggest reversing an image to check it's construction. Generally if it looks nice as a mirror image you're doing something right as far as proportions or something. I remember flipping drawings of mine when I was younger and being startled as to how bad they looked! I haven't stared at this one for very long, but I think it's pretty good at a glance. I'll break out the comb of fine teeth later.
